![]() * Five of the ten Kappa Kappa Psi founders were members of Lambda Chi Alpha. In addition to the close relationship with Tau Beta Sigma, Kappa Kappa Psi has historical and current relationships with several other organizations. Kappa Kappa Psi has grown tremendously in the past ten years, doubling in membership as well as number of chapters. Kappa Kappa Psi was for many years an exclusively male fraternity, though Title IX led the organization to become co-ed in the late 1970s. Kappa Kappa Psi was founded on Novemby ten members of the Oklahoma A & M College (later to be known as the Oklahoma State University) Band, led by William Alexander Scroggs and the band director and mentor, Bohumil Makovsky. Since 1947, Kappa Kappa Psi has recognized Tau Beta Sigma as "an equal affiliated organization with a parallel purpose, function and role in the college and university band setting," and the two organizations hold joint conventions.
